IT'S FINALLY HERE!...BEADED FANTASIES!

I just received my copy of Sabine Lippert's "Beaded Fantasies" in the mail the other day.  I have read so many great reviews and cannot WAIT to dive right in!  I thumbed through and there are some amazingly beautiful designs.

The first design I am going to try is Les Fleurs Necklace on page 40. I just love the way she manipulates the beads to form such an elegant piece.

BRACELET OF HOPE

I had a blast making this bracelet! When I purchased the breast cancer ribbon charms a few months ago I had absolutely no idea what I would be doing with them. I knew I wanted to make a bracelet that would be different yet very stylish.

So this.....

Became this....

And now I'm doing this:  15% of each purchase will be given to the fight against breast cancer.

*Note: please be sure to include your wrist size when ordering. This bracelet comes in a 7-7 1/2 but can be made larger or smaller.

MY FIRST FASHION SHOW

I had a blast getting ready for my first fashion show put on by IFT! I wore a stunning set made with crystal labrador and black AB preciosa crystals. The design was inspired by the theme of the event Unzip the Runway. 

The event was fun, my accessories accented my outfit, to me it was a perfect Friday night!

IFT Unzip the Runway Review

This past Friday night was a big night for me as it was the first time I have ever attended a fashion show competition event put on by IFT (Indy Fashion Time). Unzip the Runway was the name of the event and it lived up to every bit of the name. The venue was simply jaw dropping gorgeous and the designers in the competition did a wonderful job for the most part!







There are a couple of things that I did frown upon as an attendee to the event. First let me start by saying we as African Americans have developed a bad rap at not starting our events on time and/or not showing up to events on time. We have to do better.

To event coordinators: If your schedule states that the show will start at 8:45pm then please start the show at 8:45pm and not 9:30pm.  Your guest do not expect to be held at your event all night because you cannot start on time. Be mindful of their time because you do not know what other plans they may have following your event.

To aspiring designers: Not only do your designs respresent you but the models you put in your designs represent you as well. Please do not put a model that walks like she has something stuck up her hind part in your design. Mocels can really make or break your design. Presentation is everything! From the design to the accessories to the models!


All in all it was a great event with it being in its 5th year of production. Great job IFT! I look foward to attending more and more!

Crisscross Bracelet Mishap OOOPS!

I was working on a wonderful crisscross bracelet bead pattern that I had purchased from Bead and Button. I got the base of the bracelet completed and was working on the embellishment when the string SNAPPED!  Of course I was DEVASTATED because I had been working on the bracelet for hours.  My first mistake was I didn't use the 6lb test fireline suggested, instead I used some illusion since the fireline I had were 10lb & 12lb and I knew they would be too thick.

I learned a valuable lesson from this: Follow the instructions to the T the first time. Do not alter ANYTHING (including the type & size of the string) until you have completed the project. Once you have completed it then examine how you can alter it and make it your own.

So I ordered the CORRECT size fireline since I could not find it at my local craft store and I am anxiously awaiting its arrival so that I can start over and finish this gorgeous bracelet! I cannot wait to show you have beautiful it is!  Stay tuned!!!

MOTHER'S DAY GIFT IDEA
